Medical School claims after extensive studies that marijuana is the cause of strong structural
Damage to millions of brains across the nation. Marijuana is also known to cause damage throughout the body in places such as the chromosomes, the immune system, the hormones, the reproductive system, the sex organs, the sex drive, the lungs, and, as Dr. Robert Heath explained, the brain. Yes while studies show ingesting marijuana creates alterations in bodily functions are you forced to believe those alterations are negative and go to the extent the article says it does? Since the legalization of it to the harmful side effects people love to argue about it. But does anybody actually know the truth about this mysterious plant. Creditable sources throughout the years have looked at the subject with intentions to end the controversy, yet testing and research is still being done around this plant. When looking closely at the cases where the effects of marijuana have been studied you see lots of inconclusive findings. Dr. Robert Heath’s research in the Limbic region of the brain and the damage marijuana causes to it were considered inconclusive even though the article considered his work to be “monumental” and the results of his work were buried. One might ask how could the scientific community just let ones works diminish away to nothing if the findings were so valuable. The strongest supporting claim in the argument of marijuana is whether the drug is harmful to ones physical health. While some would look at Heath’s experiment on the monkeys and the intake of marijuana that lead to brain damage and call it quits there. What Heath had failed to mention is the amount of the drug the animals received in this controlled test, which was way more than the average recreational or medical user. As Dr. Robert Heath’s research was discredited in 1980 there are recent studies showing no brain damage to a category of some of the heaviest marijuana smokers. “The American Medical Association has officially endorsed the decriminalization of marijuana.” I believe just the act of the American Medical Association decriminalizing the drug more creditable than the inconclusive studies of a Doctor in the 80’s pumping lab animals with almost lethal doses of the drug. Furthermore numerous amounts of test have failed to provide evidence of the drug damaging other body systems such as the reproductive and immune
