Seven years later with that thought in mind is how I came to find this job opening.
I agree with my Dad when considering the future for the cannabis industry. The role of the N.C.I.A. is to prove what an asset cannabis is to the United States, while building a community that is educated and operates in a mutualistic fashion amongst each other. Our leaders are starting to see that when cannabis is regulated properly it is a multi-billion dollar industry that will foster job creation, hundreds of millions in tax revenue, and create a more efficient use of law enforcement.
On the federal level cannabis is a Schedule 1 drug. This classification under the Controlled Substance act prevents cannabis from being treated as a legitimate agricultural product. Resulting in unfair taxation and crippling market development for every cannabis business. With Jeff Sessions as Attorney General it is doubtful that cannabis will be descheduled. However, legislation is in place that will alleviate unfair taxation and stunted market development in states where businesses are compliant with state regulations. The most beneficial bills to pass currently rectify Section 280E in the Internal Revenue Code and allow proper financial services to be offered to cannabis
