One of the most famous women in physics back in the early 1900s was Marie Sklodowska. While she was in physics, Marie won two nobel prizes. Also, she discovered the elements Radium and Polonium. Marie had to conquer many hardships to get all these awards. Marie Sklodowska was born in Warshow, Portland on November 7, 1867. She was the youngest of five children, and that family was already very poor. Her mother was a poor schoolroom teacher that was named, Bronislawa Sklodowska. Her father was named Wladyslaw Sklodowska. After she was done with highschool, Marie wanted to go to college, but nobody wanted a black female to go to their school, in Poland. She ended up going to an illegal free school, where she studied more about physics and math. After leaving this school, she was offered the chance …show more content…
Pierre was a fellow scientist that Marie had worked with for a few years. After working together for that time Marie started to develop feelings for Pierre and he started to do the same. Marie and Pierre later got married in 1985. Marie Curie also made quite a few accomplishments in her lifetime. One day, she was working with some Uranium and noticed that the substance inside was way more magnetic than the Uranium. Marie took the stuff that was on the inside and took it out of the Uranium. She named this element Polonium, after her homeland, Portland. Marie also helped her husband find the element Radium. Marie also helped Albert Einstein. Another fact is that she was the first woman to win a nobel prize in physics. Marie later won another nobel prize in physics. This amazing scientist that helped Albert Einstein, found two periodic elements, and was the first female to win a nobel prize in physics, died on July 4, 1934 at the age of 66. She died due to Asthma. Pierre Curie died before Marie did. He died on April 19, 1906, at the age of
