Marie Lou Legend Summary

In Legend by Marie Lu, Day, a criminal, endures some troublesome times. To begin with, the story takes place in Los Angeles. There is a disease named the Plague spreading throughout the town. Day is sitting with his friend Tess. Soldiers check every house to see if anyone has caught the Plague. Day is waiting to see the soldiers to check his family’s house. They go in and take an hour to come back out. Day watches as they put a red “X” on the door, then a vertical line through it. Day is scared by this strange marking. He has never seen this mark before and he knew it was not good. He thought about his brother Eden. He is turning ten soon and that meant he had to go through the Trial, a test to find your place in life. Day knew that someone had the Plague, and it is Eden. Day has to go to the local hospital and get medicine for Eden. Eden’s sickness needed to be terminated, or Eden will suffer. A military truck soon drives up and let’s soldiers out. The nurse standing outside the hospital doors talks to them. Then, the nurse looks over and spots Day. He comes out and uses the blood on his arms and face to make a quick excuse. He says that he got into a knife fight and he needs treatment. The soldiers pat him down and let him in. They did not find the knives Day hid in his boots. Later, he goes for the medicine. Day grabs the medicine, but then Metias, June’s brother, catches him. Day grabs a knife and throws it at Metias, hitting is shoulder. He falls to the ground, and Day escapes. Shortly after, Metias dies and June hunts for her brother’s
