Marie was born as Maria Salomea Sklodowska on November 7, 1867 in Warsaw, Poland. She was very smart and had a passion for science at a very young age. She graduated High School at the age of 15 as the top student in her class. Marie wanted very much to continue her education and attend a University. Unfortunatley her father was very poor and could not afford to send her. Even if her father had enough money to send her to a University, the Universities would not have accepted her because they did not allow women to attend. Marie did not give up on her love of science and studied chemistry, physics, and math every chance she could. Marie was accepted into the Sorbonne in Paris at the tender age of 24. She moved to Paris and immediately began her studies in chemistry, physics, and math at one of Paris 's most prestigious universities.
