Would you like to have an arranged marriage with a total stranger, have a bad childhood, and get criticized harshly for every thing you do? I don't think anyone would like that. Unfortunately, all of these thing happened to Marie Antoinette, the daughter of the empress of Austria, Maria Theresa and the wife of Louis XVI. Her overall legacy was powerfully symbolic because it represented everything that was wrong with a monarchy and the people around her. Many people described her to have a childish behavior and the people around her were perceived as disloyal and self-interested. First of all, Marie Antoinette’s life was nowhere near perfect even though she had everything given to her throughout her life. Her parents never had the time to spend time with her and her education was poor even though she can get all the help she can get. For instance, Marie Antoinette couldn't read and write at the age of thirteen years old. When today it the United States, many people can read and write at an age younger than thirteen years old. Even her mother criticized for being kind of stupid and Maria Theresa made it seem that Marie Antoinette was an embarrassment. …show more content…
For example, at the young age of fourteen, she was criticized for having an unattractive body. She also got heavily criticized when she got married to Louis XVI. She was blamed for not making Louis XVI having sex with her and having children. Truly, it wasn't really her fault. Louis XVI wasn't interested because he was self-conscious and was insecure. This is the real reason why Marie Antoinette’s marriage wasn't consummated until after seven years they got married. The king of France and Maria Theresa really nervous and frustrated because there weren't any heir to the throne
