Unfortunately, this statement wasn’t the only thing that was falsely held against the queen. It was also believed she was the thief of a necklace that was adorned with six hundred forty-seven diamonds and smuggled it to London to be sold. The queen of France was innocent, but that didn’t matter when multiple other charges were held against her. She was also accused of collaborating with Austria and making plans to take France by force. The people of France strongly disliked the fact that she refused to become involved with politics, but, due to Louis’s depression, was forced to become involved. Despite the fact the people hated her for not getting involved, her involvement only made her people hate her more.
