“The rich govern the poor, an oligarchy of learning, where the educated govern the ignorant, or even an oligarchy of race, where the saxon rules the african, might be endured.” Poor people who are uneducated don’t have a lot of money and are from a minority do not have a say. This is why people stand up for other people.
People should be treated equally. “It was we, the people not we, the white male citizen; not yet we, the male citizens;but we, the whole people who formed the union, and we formed it , not to give the blessings of liberty but to secure them; not to the half of ourselves and the half of our prosperity but to the whole people.” Susan B. Anthony’s quote represents that we as people are one as a union, family and government. It’s not only about one specific human being in this world it's about all of us. We as a family work together as one team not individually. This is why we should be treated equally.
Others may argue that it is not important for people to take a stand on issues of justice in society because standing up to the law brings consequences, If it doesn’t affect you then it’s not your responsibility. “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.” There may be consequences about standing up to the law but if you don’t stand up to it you're the cause of
