Maria Agnesi was born in Milan, Italy on May 16, 1718 and died January 6, 1799. She is the oldest daughter of Pietro Agnesi and Anna Brivio. Pierto Agnesi was a wealthy man who was able to afford her the best tutors so they she was literate. At a young age she was a prodigy and spoke French at five. At the age of nine she mastered Latin, Greek, Hebrew, and several modern languages. In her teenage years she mastered mathematics. The house of the Agnesi had many guests, but she was shy and didn’t like the meetings that were held her house. Once her mother died she didn’t not continue going to the meetings and she used her grief for an excuse. Since her mother died and she was the oldest she took control of the house.
