‘Joshua Marston’s’ debutant film as a director ‘Maria Full Of Grace’ was remarkable in displaying many controversial yet important issues in today’s world to the silver screen. The film not only dealt with political, anti-feminist and cultural issues but the characters threw light upon the pain and the need for making choices amidst a dearth of options. It suggests the harsh reality of survival and the extent to which people must confront struggles. His realistic portrayal of the drug trade, which includes humans as mules as a way of trafficking drugs to the United States, and his obvious insinuation of how much more needs to be done with the so called “war on drugs” left me spellbound.

Thus, creating a them and us culture, significantly defining the people, their personalities, and their thinking. And till date, there is a feeling of alienation and a misfit that an inhabitant or an individual entering another country. With respect to the film, the only scenes that concerns almost my entire thesis is when Maria is extremely afraid, while crawling through the customs and security checks on JFK, New York. That hour would have been the deadliest, Maria must have felt burning alive with 53 pallets injected in her, when she could barely breathe. But somewhere in the back of her mind, there were second thoughts of commitment of achieving the American Dream of making it large and not looking
