So without a college education she began to work for ABC. The most memorable day of her life in Chicago was November 22, 1963, the day President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. She and her coworkers all went across the street for lunch and then they heard all the commotion in the street and saw the big TV cameras. As a sophomore she went to Tokyo, Japan for dance where they were treated like royalty. They rode in limos everywhere, ate kobe beef every night, and stayed in the fanciest hotels. Also in Japan everyone has black hair, so when my mom’s friend Christie would get out of the limo with red hair she’d be swarmed in the streets by people staring interested by her hair. My mom’s senior year of high school was when she started dating my dad. She attended Cal State Long Beach and when she finished her degree she moved with my dad to Bloomington for his Phd in psychology.
