Research suggests that young adults feel “sexting is a safe sex practice, sexting is risqué and that sexting is a cultural norm of sexually active couples” (Levine, 2013). However, sexting is not always a consensual sexual practice and can sometimes be used as a form of sexual abuse. Now minors can be charged for photographing, spreading, and owning child pornography for “sexting” nude photographs of themselves to other minors.
