Inside the world of medicine, heroes wear scrubs and they face all types of challenges everyday making a difference. Growing up in a small town, where the local physician taught her mother how to apply injections, Dr. Margarita Trevino, experienced what she later in life choose as her profession. Dr. Trevino decided to become a nurse as a high school student. Interviewing her, gave me the opportunity of realizing that nursing is a beautiful profession in which I can go different ways without putting on hold what I love the most. In this paper I will discuss how Dr. Trevino obtained both of best worlds in nursing, how research shaped her life, and lastly the role she plays in two of the most debated topics in the field of nursing.

She told me, “When I was in high school I didn’t have anyone to guide me, all I knew was that I wanted to help people, but I also wanted to teach, later that year I discovered I could do both if I became a nurse”. The nursing career has extended its branches to 43 specialties in the last couple of years, and also the levels of education (such as certificate up to doctorate). In order for someone to teach in the nursing field, one must obtain a BSN, gained enough clinical expertise, and at least had earned a MSN, which all apply to Dr. Trevino. Conducting research can shape someone’s life, especially if that person has been working on it through a long period of time. “Conducting research gave me a personal experience, a reality focus that I’ve applied to my teaching.” All the research she’s conducted over the years has impacted her life greatly; she has applied her knowledge and now speaks from experience every time she teaches.
