Now let us keep in mind that the Catholic Church states that from the moment of conception there is a human being inside the womb. Therefore, depending on what trimester the woman is in; that is what will constitute the best procedure for the doctor. We will only look at one of these atrocious procedures, but once you have heard about one of these procedures, you could probably get a good notion about the other procedures. The procedure, we are going to look at; is the second trimester procedure. The procedure begins with the opening of the cervix; this is done so that the abortionist can get to the baby. The baby at this time is about 13 to 24 weeks old and is about 7 inches long. Therefore, because the baby is large a suction machine will not work. Coming in to this course, I did not know what to expect due to the fact that I have never taken a women and gender studies course. Now that we are at the end of the course and I am able to reflect on what I have learned, I believe that the topic that I was most interested in and learned the most about was reproductive rights. While reflecting on what I have learned regarding reproductive rights, I will be discussing: the dangers that women experienced without forms of contraceptives, important people who aided in the fight for legal contraceptives as well as the creation of a birth control pill, and the battle to legalize contraceptives. First, there were many dangers that women experienced during the time when forms of contraceptives…

One of the most controversial issues discussed in modern times is the issue of abortion. On March, 31th as a way to bring light to this topic, the student organization Pointers for Life hosted a debate between members of the pro-life and pro-choice community. Standing on the pro-life side of the argument was Isaac Fleming, a member of the organization Wisconsin Right to Life. On the pro-choice side was Eliza Cussen, a member of NARAL Wisconsin, a pro-choice advocacy group. While attending this debate I choose to pick one speaker’s argument to evaluate from the beginning.…

They were also used as the image that would be shown to society of birth control to try and stop the further reproduction of black and brown people in the United Sates along with the rest of the world. Margaret Sanger’s contribution to the journal of the American Birth Control League makes the original purpose of birth control clear. Much of the birth control movement was aimed at, as Sanger wrote in the American Birth Control League journal, having “more children from the fit, less from the unfit” (Davis,…

If a fetus is removed from the womb, it is cut off from all nutrition or energy that it receives from its mother. Without nutrition, it can no longer thrive, grow, or develop on its own and the only response to any stimuli presented is death. Most abortions save women from gruesome psychological effects due to rape or incest. Forcing a woman to carry and give birth to a child without her consent is bound to cause more psychological harm than the abortion itself (“10 Arguments: For and Against Abortion”). In most fetus fatal abnormalities such as a missing limb can be detected which can result in death shortly before or after the baby is born.…

Abortion has been a great topic of debate for many years, both in terms of law/rights and in morality/religion. The constant debate has split people into two sides: Pro-Choice and Pro-Life. Those who are Pro-Choice believe that women have a right to decide the fate of their body, health, and life. They personally may not get an abortion, but they feel that it is still the right of the mother to choose. Abortion prevents unsafe pregnancies, protects women 's right to choose, liberates women from patriarchal control over women 's sexual and reproductive lives, and allows the mother to choose whether, when, and how often to have a child.…
