Success is defined as, "the accomplishment of an aim or purpose." In the eyes of the dictionary, you just have to accomplish something that was being aimed for or that was purposeful. To me, success is something you earn when you are proud of what you have done, and when all you want to talk about is what you have done and what you have accomplished. For example, when you win a state title in a sport that is very important and special to you, that is successful; not only did you reach your goal, but you are also going to be very proud of yourself, and it is going to be something you remember for the remainder of your life. Margaret Mead was a cultural anthropologist and also a writer. She is credited in changing the way we study human culture; what a great thing to be remembered for. A successful person is someone who sets goals for themselves, and then goes after those goals, and doesn't quit until they have achieved these goals. I am someone who always has a goal set for me, and someone that will do anything and everything in order to make my dreams and goals come true. Goals are so important as a teenager and also as an adult because they help to push you to where you want to be in your life at the time, and even in the future. Margaret says, "As a people, we American's greatly prize success." That one statement could not be any truer; Americans all want success, and it is a power role to get to the top. Women are not given the same amount and number of chances as men are to get what they want and to get where they want to be. To me, success is always something that someone will strive to be. Homeless people want nothing more than to be successful, but just weren't given the same amount of chances as some people. But, I do believe that if you want to be a successful person, you have to work for that success; it is not just going to be given to you. And when you do get to the top of the success meter; you cannot forget about the people who helped you to get there. More times than not, successful people forget about the ones who got them there.
