Margaret Hardy's The Half-Harvey

My friend’s aunt was put in a situation by her mom to succeed as her mom supported her. Her dad died when she was really young. The circumstances around her did not favor her as she was the eldest out of five kids. Deep down down in her mind she knew her mom would need her help to get through this. As her mom was working a lot to keep the family fed, her mom found the time to spend time with each kid alone to encourage and help them with whatever they need. It inspired her to become the best person she could be. Everyday she would come home,do her homework first, and then tutor her siblings. Even though she was only five years older than her siblings she essentially became their second mother. Through what she learned from her mom and the dedication she put into her work, she became a charitable human being. Secondly, her mom supported her daughter as much as she could.. If her daughter ever needed her she would be right beside her giving advice. To help her daughter succeed, her mom applied a student visa for her daughter …show more content…
In the short story “The Half-Husky” by Margaret Laurence, Harvey is treated unfairly by his aunt which makes him want to do the same things to Nanuk. Segun Akinsanya’s family was not their to support him and that's why he followed the path his friends took. At first glance, my aunt’s friend and Segun were put through the similar experience of losing one parent, but my friend’s aunt was supported by everyone in her family to succeed. The outcome of person being malicious or precious at heart depends on many factors in their life such as family, friends, role models, money, etc. Although many factors play a role you still have to make choices that are supposed to be made by you. There might be no answer to those choices but you need to make one, and that will drive you on your path to your
