One of the elements of the story that really stands out is the theme as Margaret Mitchell mentioned when her novel was published "If the novel has a theme it is that of survival,” In my opinion, survival is to let go of the past ways and adapt to new ways. This quality of foresight and adaptability helps smart people to continuously be one step ahead of everyone else, therefore, they start building their life up again while others stick to their old lifestyle and refuse to change. At the beginning of the novel, Scarlet was introduced as a self-centered, careless person but eventually she adapted herself to the conditions around her by finding her internal strength and improving it, she was able to thrive on adversities. The movie was shot in Washington Boulevard, Culver City, Los Angeles. The production designer of the film is, William Cameron Menzies and special effects are by Guru Jack Cosgrove. Not only was a plantation and post-war state capital constructed, but also most of the amazing backdrops were hand painted and mixed with live action shots e.g. Stunning Tara’s sunset. The dresses, makeups, and hairstyles of the movie belong to 1939 which is the year that the movie have been published. The costumes of the movie were designed by Walter Plunkett, which are famous in the film history for their beauty. In addition design plays a major role in the movie because, it helps draw the audience into a specific historical time frame not to mention that gone with the wind won an Oscar for the design of the film.
Music
The music of gone with the wind was scored by the famous Max Steiner, he and his orchestra worked day and night for months in order to be able to get the score in time for the film. The music is being played throughout the film and based on the scene in goes from a soft background music to soaring or romantic melodies. The most memorable and recognizable song in the film history is Tara’s theme. .
