Margaret Atwood's Annie: A Narrative Fiction

I was definitely in Annie’s radar.

One day after school, Annie went looking for me with a group of friends. I was at the library hanging out with my friends, Harper and Justin. I saw the girls coming toward our direction, and my instincts told me to get up and hide. I lied to my friends that I was going to seek for some books to read in order to make a little escape.

At the library, there were rows of bookshelves, and I decided to pretend to hide there. I heard Annie’s and her friend’s footsteps. They were also chattering my name.

At that moment, I remember she said, “Weimin, Where is he?”

Through the book shelves, I saw a glimpse of Annie and her groups of friends making their way toward the section of bookshelves I was hiding at. My friends must have told them I went to grab some books. My heart was beating rapidly, and I begin to sweat a little in my palms.

So, I grabbed a random book from the shelves and took a route to avoid the girls.

If you want to avoid a girl, and you are a male, the best place to hide would be the boy’s bathroom. No girls in right mind would enter there.

I hid in the bathroom for a few minutes, carrying a heavy book. I forgot what the title of the book was, but I am pretty sure I did not have ability to comprehend it. That book was not meant for a third grader to read, maybe a college student.

My mind rushed with curiosity as I stared blankly at the mirror, I began to think. Why was Annie looking for me? If I am right, something big was going to happen. How did she figure out I was at the library? Is this a set up?

The bathroom was very unsanitized and smelled like urine mixed with rotten fish. Five minutes in a public bathroom would make you want to throw up. Some old man probably in his 50’s had entered the bathroom and decided to take the number two. It was my time for me to exit my hiding

I walked through Whiterun chatting to some of the locals who I now knew well enough to make casual conversation with, I was interested to note that Mikael, Carlotta and Ysolda now all seem to be firm friends. When they saw me Mikael moved over to my side and admitted the girls had caught him watching, and were so turned on by it, they now let him watch, as being watched aroused them all the more, and they want me to know I’m welcome to join them any time I wish. Nazeem made some comment about me being a low class slut, so I punched him in the face, everyone nearby stopped to laugh; I guess it’s true that nobody likes Nazeem. Candy Wraps and Raccoons I never thought I would ever though these four phrase would relate with each other, but they did, and these four phrases are: boy scout, screaming, raccoons and candy wraps.
