Long ago, there was just man that went by the name Marcus Aurelius’, a Roman Emperor; one of the only true and knowledgeable ones at that. He was one of the best emperors of the great empire, and his reign was comparable only to that of Julius Caesar. When he was ruling the state, he realized what he had to have in regards to leadership in order to succeed and allow the nation to thrive and become, and stay, something amazing. He was a knowledgeable man, by the way that he knows about the key virtues and how they affect the greater people. How the just man should act and how all the people in his life have affected him in different ways. He complied this into a compendium of ideas that he essentially wrote to himself, to be destroyed when …show more content…
He says that a family should be governed in a fatherly manner, and to this I say: this is the only way to rule a family. If there is no strong father figure in a family, then sometimes the structure as a whole can come crumbling down around the others and leave the other members of the family desperate for guidance and hope. Without a fatherly figure, there is not a lot of structure to a family. He goes on to mention the fact that, you have to treat each member of the family like the others, so that none may feel left out. In my life, there were certain instances where I would have loved to have been included in, but alas some of the people in my family didn’t have a strong father figure to teach them the ways of correct social …show more content…
This is something that I may be struggle with in some aspects, as I don’t like to show emotion if I can’t help it. It makes me feel weak and venerable, something that others can use to exploit you and then turn you into a worrisome pile of misery. However, he mentions that we must love all members of our family equally so that none feel left out. I can certainly say due to personal account that some members of my family receive more love than do others. If you love all members of your family, then each person in change will have something that they can share with you in the way of knowledge. This is certainly true, and much of the information that I hold in my delicate brain comes from what my cousins have brought to me during the summer exploits that we always embark on. It’s rather intriguing to see what other people know, things that you have no idea even

I believe that the author wants students to see that just because a family is not ‘picture perfect’ doesn’t make it any less of a family. Nana Grace’s grandmother shares this concept with the statement “families are what you make of them (p. 3)” made by Nana reassuring Grace that their family is perfect just the way it is. Hoffman continues to share Grace’s emotional roller coaster as she comes to terms with her part in her father’s new family and worries that she will be replaced by her new siblings (p. 7). Hoffman also portrays Grace’s overwhelming feelings of the new and exciting world around her. Hoffman does an excellent job conveying the purpose she has set…

Through this the well-beloved Brutus stabbed, And as he plucked his cursed steel away, Mark how the blood of Caesar followed it” (A3S2, line 188-190). Julius Caesar, by William Shakespeare, is about a man who going to be crowned king of Rome and who was loved by all. Brutus and Antony were both effective in trying to win the audiences favor however, Antony used more pathos to connect with the audience’s emotions and Brutus used more of a logos appeal. For example, when Antony read from Caesar’s will about where the money for Rome was supposed to get, he said “ But here’s a parchment with the eal of Caesar (A3S2, L140 P125)”. This was an example of logos because he used a document to present his argument.…

When reading The Instruction of the Vizier Ptah-Hotep and The Instruction of Ani you can find several glimpses into what was viewed as important in the ancient Egyptian society. Family relationships are discussed several times within both texts, detailing not only the relationship between husband and wife but also the relationship between father and son, mother and son, and ultimately son and his own children. It appears that overall, even though the father remains head of the house, a relationship of general respect between all parties is expected. While the levels of respect granted to each individual of the family vary, as long as each person is doing their required part in the house, they will gain respect. It is only when one steps…
