For the most part the movie painted a slightly accurate picture of the true story of Louie Zamperini. At the same time it is also introducing things that didn’t exactly happen. It got certain parts wrong such as the days they spent at sea. The events themselves were true, but the way they were told and the way the events played out are different in the movie. Like the events in the camps and the brutal depictions of them. It wouldn’t be an uplifting movie if you saw what really happened. That belongs in a documentary, but not a movie. Was this a good telling of an event in history? Yes, I do believe it is, but not the most historically accurate. It tells the story well enough to keep you interested.
