Marco Ruby Speech Analysis

“Just imagine the audience is in their underwear”, this is a common tip to those performing in a public environment but the advice that should be given to tell them to not have the creepy Marco Rubio smile that will haunt the dreams of children forever. Marco Rubio, a politician from Florida that is running for the Republican nomination for President. In February of 2016, Rubio did a celebration with his constituents in Iowa about how his campaign was one of the three left in the Republican nomination. The speaking physique that he demonstrates in this speech shows his background in speaking because of the speech elements that he used such as repeated phrases and forming a bond with the audience, and using proper eye contact. A speaker should always include a transition to make sure his/her crowd is not confused on where the speaker is at in his speech. James Wretch writes “Basically, a transition is a sentence where the speaker summarizes what was said in one point and previews what is going to be discussed in the next point” he writes in terms meaning that it helps the listener gets ready for the next topic while helping the listener also be aware of the summary of the last topic the speaker talked about (Wretch,343). Marco Rubio’s speech was entirely not smooth, if there was any transition at all, there was very little. Marco jumped around a lot on topics, some topics he even came back on. This effectively confused the crowd on what he was talking about and also mislead them to believe that he was done talking about a topic but in real life, he wasn’t rather he just paused on it. His lack of transition exhibits the lack of understanding that he has with speech writing and public speaking. Due to his lack of knowledge in public speaking, this can only tell us what we can expect if he may become president. Who knows…maybe he will win the world over with his wonderful
