One being that a republican official doesn't know what unemployment insurance is. That's a little frightening, knowing that these people hold power in our government. Secondly, I’ve personally seen the effects of the removal/downgrade of SNAP and its benefits. There are more and more people struggling daily to either pay for food or a light bill. I agree 100% with Ohio rep, Marcia Fudge. I feel that these official are so high up the ladder they only look at dollars and cents instead of looking at human lives being affected by these unconscientious cuts. How can it be possible for children and adults living in a first world country to starve or be without simple necessities? I think every U.S. citizens should be able to obtain basic necessities. The history of poverty in this country should be considered when discussing budgeting and refinancing of this country. We need massive reconstruction and redistribution of money and power. How can we afford billions of dollars to go into war, millions to wall street but we cannot afford to put food on our citizen’s tables and books in our children's school? We need reprioritization.
