Marching Band Marching School

On September 30th the marching band got to go around to different schools and perform their show that they have been working on since the beginning of the school year. First they went too Farley Elementary to start off the tour, then they went to the Aldersgate Village Retirement to perform in front of the community. Lastly they went to Auburn Elementary for their ending performance place.
When they performed their music they got the kids to interact in between every new set , like doing the “Hey” song while doing the actions that the drum majors showed them to do. Even a few band kids got to go and stand with their section and got to listen up closely. That was done for both Farley Elementary and Auburn Elementary. When they got to Aldersgate

Rubbing Off in the 110 I’ve always been involved with marching band most of my time in school starting in 5th grade. I fell in love with it. I consider marching band an art form. The band marches in many different designs or a patterns on the field while playing music, and for the Marching 110, they perform a dance at the end. For the rubbings project, I wanted to celebrate my time here at Ohio University and give thanks to The Most Exciting Band In The Land.…

This year, our Marching Band got the chance to go to Nashville, Tennessee where we encountered the different musical culture they had. We attended The Grand Ole Opry, a concert where many talented country musicians performed live in a giant hall. It was a fascinating experience when we learned about the musician’s lives through their music and what they consider everyday aspect of their lives that we don’t have farther up north. One of the band members got the opportunity to participate in a dance off onstage during one of the breaks, something the whole band celebrated in camaraderie. A museum with all things country music, “Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum” held all kinds of pieces from various dresses and instruments of musicians from…

When people think of marching band, they tend to believe it is a joke or a waste of time. Marching band is a more time consuming activity that starts late in the summer. Yet the people that are not involved in the Fine Arts are more likely to have these false accusations. While most believe marching band is not a sport, is for the unpopular kids, and requires no prior skill, it in fact requires a great deal of time and dedication. A lot of marching bands practice on a daily bases, implying the dedication of skill and physical contribution it takes.…

The happiness was apparent in their faces whenever they would see us. The feeling of being a role model to all the kids, just because we were cheerleaders in uniform, is unexplainable. Even when we sat next to them, they felt as if they were on top of the world. It is crazy to think that something so simple for us, made such a big impact on someone…

We practiced for an hour, put on the uniforms, piled into the buses, and unloaded at a high school foreign to me. The sun sank into the horizon as we sat in the stands and watched the other high school perform. At second quarter we did our own show, and it went flawlessly. But the thrill of marching band still didn't kick in to me. We made our way back to the stands, and the drum major held up a sign saying, "Land of a Thousand Dances."…

When I go college, I do not want to give up my favorite activities, but rather, build upon established interests and create new ones. Honestly, I do not know all of the activities in which I may participate while attending university. This is not because I do not know what I like; I just that I have not been exposed to these things yet. Although my personality is not fully molded, I actively search for novel and fulfilling experiences relating to music, food, and travel.…

Except, this time the volunteers were asked to help at the GBMS Color Guard Club. I had treasured the minute amount of time I spent with the rising ninth graders that I thought it would be crazy for me not to help. We started out with a few volunteers from Grassfield coming to help out but around the second month it was just me, Chris and Donny. The club taught over 100 girls and boys the basics of spinning a flag, marching in step together and at the end of the club, a routine. This routine was performed during “middle school night” at Great Bridge High School where the middle schoolers took the field and spun and played their instruments like a high school marching band.…

I hate marching band. Leaving that trap of a class was the best decision I made in my entire high school experience. Once I had had enough of band, I joined theater. Joining theater fit my schedule well, introduced me to new people, and opened my mind to possibilities I hadn't considered before. The time I wasted in marching band was grueling.…

Memoir Rough Draft While everyone starts to complain about school starting, I was already at school before August for marching band. Day in and day out, all of us worked our hardest, having fun, helping out, and getting to know each other well. It was hot, many times over a hundred degrees, although sometimes it felt worse, as if we were getting baked in the warm sun rays. However, we were there for a purpose, and we all shared a common goal, a dream, to become better as a marching band. Of course we were exhausted, after long hours, but I owe my life to band for making me who I am.…

Introduction The word culture has many different definitions depending on what disciplines a person finds the definition.
