I can contribute my time, hard working attitude, and knowledge of music as a leader in this program. I have spent countless hours for band from practicing, to teaching others, and also several other things. I spend most of my time doing something band related, but I would be glad to more to benefit the band. I can use my hard working attitude to do whatever is needed of me. I can use my knowledge of music to teach others how to be better musicians and show improvement. My concern for the the 2017 year of marching band is that the senior class right now is going to be gone, and we need more people to step up to fill in the gap they leave. A section leader has to be a good teacher to instruct the rookies and if really needed then returning marchers. Humbleness is an important quality of a leader because being a section leader does not mean you are the best and you are higher than others; all it means is that Mr. Oubre gave it to you. Compassion because this are just kids, and this is just marching band, also you want to build friendships not dominance. One would need confidence because a section leader should set the example for the section and play loud and proud. Section leaders need respect from their peers because nobody listens to somebody they do not respect, especially if that person is a high schooler. I want to make you tell the saxophones to stop playing so loud. For the entire band, I want a better matching of style from section to section because everyone has the capability to play the music and the dynamics, but there is a dissonance of musical interpretation and style. Socially, I want the band to be closer knit family. There are too many tears from unnecessary drama, and I know we are in high school, but band should be where someone finds his or her closest friends. It should not be where everyone talks bad behind others backs. Visually, we need a consistency in technique, and that is a very simple thing to fix. All we have to do is make sure we do not teach it one way at band camp, and then teaching it a different way
