If I were offered the role of either the villain or the hero in a movie, I would pick the hero. A hero must convey the following traits, focus, responsibility, determination, and courage. I have chosen these traits, because I feel they are most prominent in my life.
As a hero, you have to be focused on the task in front of you. This focus is instilled in students who participate in marching band, like me. Marching band is a test of focus. Once you step foot onto the field for a performance, you must be entirely focused on the task ahead. One small step to the side, one brief moment you let your mind wander, and next thing you know there is a flag in your face or a baritone at your back, and someone gets injured. Also, focus is required to make the entire band

Dedication is a trait you must have to be a band student. I have been involved in band programs since the 6th grade. Despite the long hours of rehearsal, complexity of music, and repetition of marching drill, I enjoy being in band. I have dedicated my whole life to band. My dream is to become a part of the Gator Marching Band and continue this way of life at the University of Florida.
Heroes have incredible courage. Courage is something that I have developed throughout my life. When I was younger, I was quiet and dreaded speaking in front of an audience. Band has pushed me past my comfort zone and presented me with opportunities to shine by myself. Throughout high school, I have performed solos and duets with the concert band, as well as participated in several small ensembles for competition and concerts. I am comfortable doing solos with the band and presenting projects in class. Band has helped set me free and I have developed the courage to be my own person.

The characteristics that I see in a hero are putting others before yourself, courage, and overcoming weakness. Heroism is hard to define because it is the personal acts that make someone heroic. It can not be measured just by how large the act is, but by what is in the heart of the person and what they have to overcome personally to achieve these acts. “The greatest obstacle to being heroic is the doubt whether one may not be going to prove one's self a fool; the truest heroism is to resist the doubt; and the profoundest wisdom, to know when it ought to be resisted, and when it be obeyed.” (Hawthorne,…

Based off of stereotypes, heroes are supposed to have ridiculous costumes and good looks, but in reality, heroes are supposed to be people that use the events around them, and their knowledge to complete their tasks. They are usually based off of appearances, and are not always viewed by the traits that make them fit into the title of a hero. A hero has characteristics of being honorable, being selfless when trying to protect others, and not acting fearful when everything around is against your favor. Heroes are people that are honorable/honored because their lives were sacrificed for the greater good. If I were offered the role of a the villain or the hero in a movie, I would absolutely choose the villain because of their many layers of complexity. Also because, nine times out of ten, being the hero tends to be a very stereotypical role. The hero usually comes from a tough or troubled background, overcomes that adversity to rise above and saves the day. It is typically cut, dry and in many cases predictable; while on the other hand, the villain is not always revealed or identified immediately. A villain typically has a complex backstory that many do not know until late in the movie, so the actor or actress faces the challenge of having to let that complex backstory come through, without giving too much away.…
