When given the opportunity to apply for the marching band at my high school I was amused to the fact that I could possibly accomplish my goal of being a flute player. Therefore, when I got the recommendations that are acquired to participate in the band, I practice and practice until I was confident enough to apply. As confident as I was, I never knew that my near future will consider my ultimate failure.

In conclusion, I did not make the cut in participating in the marching band. When I found out the news of the terrible incident

I hate marching band. Leaving that trap of a class was the best decision I made in my entire high school experience. Once I had had enough of band, I joined theater. Joining theater fit my schedule well, introduced me to new people, and opened my mind to possibilities I hadn't considered before. The time I wasted in marching band was grueling.…

From freshman to seniors the members of the group saw me as an improvement from what was previously given to them and, therefore, welcomed my new position with great acceptance. It is a renowned group of young musicians that work closely with members of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. I have been a part of the horn section in this prestigious group since my freshman year. When I started high school, I knew that the only thing that I wanted to join was the school band. I knew that going into this I had to be a part of the marching band, but I did not quite understand what that entailed. The marching band was so much different that what I was used to coming out of middle school, but I have not regretted my choice to join once. When I began my junior year, I was made co-clarinet section leader with, someone who I considered my friend, Crystal, a senior at the time. This was my first time ever being in a sort of leadership position.…

Music means something different for everyone, but for me, it means life. As my classmates and I entered high school, we all found a niche-- a group of people like us who made us feel like we belonged, and for me that group was band. Joining band my freshman year, especially marching band provided me with a group of friends and a comfortable place to be myself. I never went through the awkward first day of school looking for someone to sit by because I entered high school with more than forty familiar faces and mentors. Marching band camp had provided me with upperclassmen to look up to, and I still remember and try to follow them in my leadership position in band.…

Everyone has a different perspective and interpretation about failure. Some people see failure as an unpleasant thing or a limitation of their capabilities, while others see failure as a learning opportunity or a guide on how to become better. For example, in the article, “Want to Get Into College? Learn to Fail,” the author, Angel B. Perez, implies that failure should not be feared because it is not as harmful as most people think it is. He points out that failure is necessary if we want to succeed in college and in life.…

When I first thought of failure, I thought it was very bad and that I would have a great life if I didn’t fail. That may be true but every human has failed at one point in their life, whether it was a simple task or a hard task. Failing is impossible not to do and it is just a part of being human. Failure is a bad thing in most cases, like getting a failing grade, failing your driver’s test, failing to remeber someone’s birthday. Sometimes we look above the failure and fix the problem, but sometimes we get so down on ourselves for failing that we get sad and we start failing to be happy in life.…

Some would say success is defined by how much money you make or how many friends you have, but what if somebody told you that your success is also defined by your failures? It’s not every day that you succeed, but failure, in small doses, happens every day. Failure defines success because of its ability to build character, teaching ability, and intimidation. Failure has a great ability to build character. People who fail a lot in life tend to have an incentive to try harder.…

Organizations So far I have participated in three clubs: Band (6-9th grade), NJHS (National Juniors Honors Society—8th grade) and now a dance organization at my school called Skillz Squad. Furthermore in band, the only meetings we did have were “convocations” for sectionals in order to prepare for UIL (University Interscholastic League) competitions and marching band last year at my current high school because we had a ridiculous passion to beat everybody and anybody in our district in terms of surpassing the other school’s greatness with their fearsome playing skills and fundamentals. In other words, we only had our summits specifically for (late) practices and improvements in our music abilities.…

Our solar system revolves around the sun, nine planets kept in orbit by this bright star’s gravitational pull. The sun is not only an essential part of our solar system, but also an essential part to life on earth. This star does everything from allowing life to exist on our planet by providing the nutrients necessary for living things to grow to determining the length of our days and the brightness of the moon. Without the sun, the solar system might not even exist, or at least not the way it does now. Much like how the sun has shaped the earth and everything on it, music has shaped my life.…
