Leadership can be displayed in various forms. In our Presidential Leadership course, our class viewed the film called, “March on Selma”. This film portrays the police brutality and general racial injustice that was being comminted at the time. March on Selma also portrays how leadership was used.
Towards the beginning of the film, the major issue for people of color was they were not allowed to vote. Many people thought of this as unfair. One of the main leaders, was Martin Luther King Jr.. He saw this as an injustice situation that had to have a solution. He challenged the process by speaking to the President of the United States, at that time. He tried to convince him to end the ban on people of color, to vote. He had to stand up for what he believed was right. Another instance where leadership was portrayed was when Martin Luther King Jr. traveled to Selma. Him and other men and women led the march to Selma to fight for their rights and for the rights of others. He shared his vision of the right to vote with people from all races from across the nation. Many people to this march to show that what was happening in the nation was wrong. A white clergyman came to the March on Selma and stood up for what he believed in. It displayed the differnt actions that needed to be taken to achieve a goal that was beneficial for the people of color. They were fighting for their rights that were being denied as citizens of the United States. They were being denied to the right vote. Martin Luther King Jr. decided to take action and try to stop it by using different tactics. Even though he was shut down, he did not stop there. With the help from differnt people such as his family and friends, he was able to create a movement and have others join along with
