Although curriculums have changed throughout the years, the purpose of education, which is to train the mind for the future, has not and will never adapt to the standards teachers have set. However, my perspective on the purpose of educated was greatly contradicted in Marc Prensky’s “The Goal of Education is Becoming”. Marc Prensky believed that the purpose of education was “becoming a ‘good’ person and becoming a more capable person than when you started”. It is one thing to be capable of something than being able to do it. One will not succeed in life if one does not know how to read, write, or understand the mechanics of the world.
