Marc Andreessen Marc Andreessen lived a fairly normal childhood, except for the fact that he was a computer genius. Andreessen was born to Lowell and Patricia Andreessen in Cedar Falls Iowa on July 9th, 1971. Although he got his computer in 7th grade, he learned the basic programming of a computer at the age of 9 from a library book. Andreessen never had any love of sports. He preferred experimenting with his computer and soon began to design video games when he had free time. He was given an assortment of names, from “Boy Wonder” to “Geek.” Andreessen got his college education at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. His major was computer science.
