Elizabethan Dramas are considered as the greatest dramas in the history of English literature. The greatness is that they are still read and widely performed across the world. Maqbool(2004) directed by VB, is an adaptation of Macbeth The plot of the film is inspired by Shakespearean Macbeth in terms of events and the characterization. In the backdrop of the movie we see Mumbai underworld and events related to it though being inspired by the play. Bhardwaj has successfully co-related the events and happenings of the plays with the intrigues and conspiracy of the Mumbai underworld.
