God always has a plan for us. “Chariots of Fire” is an amazing movie that shows us the many differences between the runners Eric Liddell and Harold Abrahams. It was different for Eric Liddell and Harold Abrahams. Someone ran for the glory of God. Somebody, on the other hand, ran to win. Eric and Harold were two great “track and field athletes” that contrasted in influences. Eric had no idols before GOD. He considered God as his savior and the lord of everything and everyone. He is calm, kind and understanding. He never judges other people on their looks and their culture. But Harold only recognizes true beauty like his girlfriend. I think that his girlfriend was a good influence because she knew that being an athlete had its own ups and downs. She explained Harold the meaning of races and how losing a race was okay because someone has to win. Eric’s sister Jenny focused more on spending time with GOD and that Eric shouldn't be just spending time running and training. Jenny thought that Eric was too busy exercising and training that he might as well forget GOD. Throughout the movie, Eric was constantly encouraged by Jenny to keep following GOD and that GOD will never leave him alone. He was also encouraged by an American competitor by a memory verse in the Bible. That is also my favourite part of the movie because he says that he feels GOD’s pleasure when he runs. No matter how cheesy that sounds, it is indeed very hard to think about and feel that way because we aren't able to spend enough time with GOD except for Sunday School.
