Manu Returns Sequel

A Sequel usually doesn’t work in Bollywood and one should never go with high expectations, for it mostly disappoints. Tanu Weds Manu was a breezy rom-com about how two totally different individuals fall for each other and decide to get married in the end. A sequel of this movie could have gone astray for lack of a strong script, but director Anand L Rai proves that if he’s sure of the subject, the film will certainly be a crowd-puller - be it a sequel like Tanu Weds Manu Returns or a single entity like Raanjhanaa.
For the uninitiated, Tanuja ‘Tanu’ Trivedi (Kangana Ranaut) is a rash Kanpur girl, who unwittingly gets into and even puts others into trouble because of her ‘brash’ nature and casual approach to life. She is in love with a local gunda Raja Awasthi (Jimmy Shergill),

Tanu Weds Manu Returns is a breath of fresh air. It does not allow a single dull moment to creep in. It makes you chuckle all the while, and tugs at your heart strings towards the climax. You laugh at the drama unfolding on the screen and also sympathise with the helpless protagonist Manu for getting into serious situations for no fault of his.
Performance wise, Kangana Ranaut outshines all the others in her double role. She slips into the skin of both her characters with equal ease, but it is her ‘Haryanvi avatar’ that suits her best. She proves yet again that she can pull off a movie on her shoulders alone and win accolades for it too. Madhavan, on the other hand, carries his role forward without much effort. He plays an ageing doc - moping over an impending divorce, yet wanting to get married second time round - with finesse. Deepak Dobriyal is the surprise package of the film. He wins hearts with his Pappiji act. Jimmy Shergill, Eijaz Khan, Swara Bhaskar, Rajendra Gupta, Navni Parihar and K K Raina reprise their respective roles and help propel the film forward. Before going to the theater with friends or family for a great action packed thriller, I may think twice before buying a ticket to see Taken. Taken, written by Luc Besson, and directed by Pierre Morel, was first released in 2009 and is believed to be one of the most thrilling action films of the season. However after watching the 93 minute film some viewers may disagree. Unfortunately Taken's unrealistic acting and very predictable plot prevents viewers from experiencing the actuality families face that are affected by the horrors of sex trafficking, which the movie attempts to portray.…
