There Will Be Water Later On In an article, “The Holy Water is Falling Down in Sparkling Streams of Cristal-Clear Rain Drops to Bring Wetness to Our Land All Over”, written by Manoon Mukpradith in the daily Thai Rath on Dec 5, 1985 to tell a story of a miracle happened during a late evening, one day in Feb. 1985. (The article’s title comes from a passage in the lyric of one of His Majesty’s hit songs, The Falling Rain.) With a heart filled with lots of suffering from a serious drought, an old local woman, who had waited to see HM the King on a royal visit to a faraway village, crawled up close to His Majesty and embraced his feet. She said with tears falling down her cheeks to His Majesty, asking for royal help in bringing water to the village. …show more content…
Their level of worries was very high. They mostly spoke in trembling voices and some of them started to cry as they said about their love for His Majesty and their wishes for the quick recovery and longevity of their beloved King. Many of the old people made their wishes for their King to live as long as possible for hundreds of years. I am impressed with some Thai-born members of the Sikh community in Bangkok, who came in groups and expressed their feeling for His Majesty in the same way as other local Thai people. A few days ago, the Bhutanese Ambassador, who took his diplomatic duty in Bangkok for only 4 months, came to sign the get-well book and present the bouquet of flowers from the King of Bhutan, King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, the young king who is quite popular among Thai people while he was in Bangkok several times during the past few years. He was crowned in early Nov. last year and now the world’s youngest monarch and head of state at 29 years old. Bhutan is a tiny and remote Himalayan country that changed its government system from absolute monarchy to democratic system late last year amidst the protest of some Bhutanese people, who felt that there was nothing wrong with the old system while their level of happiness was very high. Surprisingly, Bhutan is the first country to use the Gross National Happiness as an index for the country’s level of progress.

The mood of the author seems to be confidence and bravery as he states that he is not scared of the guards although the guards are patrolling the bridge.…

The meeting between Alek and Reb Menashe is similar. Although Reb, seems to be less inclined to state that belief is different. His aversion to the lack of modesty (his definition of modesty that seems to require every bit of flesh to be covered), in the room is a topic of his innermost thoughts. However, he does realize that his perceptions are just that: his own. He recognizes this, and because the immigrants in the room do not feel ashamed, perhaps they are innocent.12 He and Alek are entirely different from each other, but their conversation is beneath the surface, and “both understood each other.”…

Although Mutjinga upheld a prominent position in her society because of the power she sustained through her ability to speak with the sacred spirits Aboriginals worshiped, the story also explains her abuse and often times, egregious misuse, of this power. Because Mutjinga could speak with the spirits, she could many things which the men could not; she could “send the spirits to frighten away game, to waylay people at night, or to cause a child to be born without life.” From the beginning of the story, it becomes evident that Mutjinga has multitudes of immense power, and can exploit this power in various ways, one of which is her ability to turn into a gonna (a lizard). This ability becomes ever more prevalent when the story establishes that Mutjinga…

Reader Response 1: Pages 1-16 The narrator begins speaking about how our life is balanced between our misfortunes and blessings, which I agree with. I know exactly what the author is talking about, as it is common in our society to say things like "Why did this happen to them? They are such good people. " Just as the narrator's father doesn't like talking about large age gaps in marriages, I think the uneasiness that we feel when talking about the topic is still around today.…

Water, one of the highest of holy rebirth references in existence. In The Road by Cormac McCarthy the two characters, the boy and the man, take a long journey, including a struggle of death versus life shown through the use of symbols to represent both sides of the struggle. One of the heaviest symbols in the novel is McCarthy's use of biblical references in many forms to portray feelings of hope and rebirth/resurrection, while also showing filth and irony in that of the water in the new yet extinct world. McCarthy presents the symbol of water in a very Biblical rich manor. “One day Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee, and John baptized him in the Jordan River.…

Process Description of Heijunka Introduction Heijunka is a tool used in lean manufacturing which focuses on eliminating waste without losing productivity through a manufacturing technique that relies on leveling production. Popularized by Toyota, lean manufacturing is often seen as an alternative and more effective manufacturing process than mass production that is commonly used in America (Friddle n.d.). Whereas mass production relies on production in large batches to obtain the lowest cost per part possible, lean production instead focuses on the flow of production, adjusting flow as demand changes. One of the primary problems heijunka serves to solve: how do you produce the correct amount of product when demand is always changing?…
