Manon Rheaume is a female ice hockey goaltender who is best known for being the first woman to play in the NHL. Manon was born in Beauport, Ontario on February 24th, 1972. Manon was the second child in her family of five. Her parents, Nicole and Pierre Rheaume also gave birth to two boys. Martin, who is older than Manon, and Pascal who is the youngest. Manon always grew up with a passion for hockey. She trained with boys and played on boys’ teams when she was in minor hockey because, at that time, there were no all-female teams for Manon to play on. Later on in her career, she played for the Sherbrooke Jofa-Titan squad in the League Régionale du Hockey Au Feminine in Québec. For the 1991-1992 season, Manon played in the Quebec Major Junior
