Manon Lescaut & Des Grieux story is a point to prove that a relationship is nothing but a fiction. Although the story as told by Des Grieux is colored by his narration, focusing more on his side of actions and consequences he faced, it gives fair insights of the fictions of Manon also. Devoid of any logical thinking, rational behavior & foresighted of actions Des Grieux behaved almost insanely throughout the story. In her fiction a true love, which she has for Grieux cannot be belittled by her agreeing to share bed with someone else, if such an act can bring spells of togetherness between her and Grieux. She is ready to cheat or flirt for shale of earning means to be with Grieux. The relationship portrayed in the story is that of committed lovers who lived in their dream world and tried to comfort each other as per their own feelings (may be at times their actions appears selfish, like Menon agreeing to part with Grieux to stay with rich landlord). A reciprocity was not built in their love. Both the actors got what they desired, Menon the material luxuries and Grieux the company of Menon, until the competition emerged from the real world. The real world where on one hand love regarded as something capable of being purchased and on another it is just regarded as waste of time or useless & immoral. Competing with the two, Buyers for Menon love and persuaders for reforming Grieux, the lovers faced hell and went through it, completely submersed in their fiction of
