I lately gave attention to a news report regarding a brutal shooting, expecting, as one among many, for the incident to result in stricter gun regulations; but I felt astonished and distressed to find that the news stories merely reported the tragedy that took the lives of the innocent, fading from the headlines without any worthwhile preventative actions. I had thought that with the vicious occurrences of violence, more multitudinous by the day, ordinary citizens would begin to ponder sensible gun legislation; but countless citizens of the United States have argued over the constitutional right of all to possess a firearm, and not one citizen spoke up and made his voice heard for the innocently murdered, not one even made reference. Only the second amendment, which speaks of firearm security only for a militia, appeared to concern them. The inhabitants of our once-strong nation need to prepare to stand with the unfortunate victims whose voice can no longer make statement and speak of protection from the menacing people of our world. Our liberals and conservatives alike need a concurrence, but I fear that their differences will leave our country vulnerable, in a gridlock. I hear United States citizens speak up and vote for stricter firearm legislation. The people should strive to protect each unique individual from gun violence. I have seen innocent victims, who lay motionless, and wonder why anyone would steal their lives. From all I have ever seen of an armed criminal, I know that stricter firearm legislation would benefit America immensely. If none of us speak up to implement regulations, what would happen to our country? When violence endangers our lives, we need to dwell on
