Maniac Magee is a very fascinating story about an orphan with the name of Jeffrey Magee and also known as the legend, Maniac Magee The book Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli is based on an orphan named Jeffrey Magee who is looking for the right place and home in the racially separated town he lives in. Maniac Magee is a realistic fiction book. Realistic Fiction is when a story is written with events that didn’t actually happen but had all the possibilities of happening. It’s possible for Maniac Magee to be realistic fiction because any little boy or girl could have had a terrible loss of his/her parents and had to be shipped off to his/her nearest relatives, anyone could ran away because they didn’t like their life they had, and there could be a racially separated town somewhere. Although, the entire book is fascinating I have to say that the conflicts that Jeffrey Magee faces are what makes the book so fascinating! The novel takes place in the town Two Mills, Pennsylvania. Jerry Spinelli created Two Mills so the town isn’t a real place in Pennsylvania. Two Mills is a racially separated town, the East End is where the blacks live and the West End is where the whites live.
