Fracture is defined as a discontinuity of the bone [1]. Oral and maxillofacial surgeon treats traumatic injuries. Most of the traumatic injuries are comprised of Mandibullar fractures. The most commonly fracture site in the body is the facial area [2, 3] and the most frequent site in the facial area is mandible [4, 5]. As facial area is without protective covering and the mandible is the most protruded bone this area. The occurrence of injuries in the facial area tends to be high in the facial area and likewise high in Mandibullar region as compared to other parts of the body [6, 7]. Other parts of of body are usually with protective covering and are not so prominent as the facial area so the frequency of fracture is less in these parts as compared to facial area. Maxillofacial fracture affects functional aspects as well as appearance of the maxillofacial region. So they should be treated immediately although they may not be life threatening.

In North America, blunt force trauma (a punch) is the leading cause of mandible fracture [9], whereas in other countries, motor vehicle collisions are now a leading cause [10] On battle grounds, it is more likely to be high velocity injuries (bullets and shrapnel) [11] Prior to the routine use of seat belts, airbags and modern safety measures, motor vehicle collisions where a leading cause of facial trauma. The relationship to blunt force trauma explains why 80% of all mandible fractures occur in males. Mandibullar fracture is a rare complication of third molar removal, and may occur during the procedure or afterwards [12] With respect to trauma patients, roughly 10% have some sort of facial fracture, the majority of which come from motor vehicle collisions. When the person is unrestrained in a car, the risk of fracture rises 50% and when an unhelmeted motorcyclist the risk rises
