I am looking forward to starting college here at Colorado Christian University. I have been out of school for over four years now. I enlisted with the Army October of my senior year to leave for basic training as soon as possible. I graduated high school in June of 2012 and left for the Army in July.
I did not want to do any more school because I was burnt out and ready to start my career. Enlisting in the Army seemed like the best thing for me because I could advance without a college education. I was dead wrong and mislead a little when it comes to promotion point system. It was extremely disappointing for me because I could have already had my Bachelor’s Degree complete or at least close to.
I PCSed here to Fort Carson in July 2016. Immediately my NCOs (Non-Commissioned
Officers) saw potential and were getting me ready for the promotion board. I knew I would need college after I ranked up to continue. I was talking with my squad leader here and he told me that he goes to this great school that you can do 100% online. This was right up my alley because not only do I have work, but a wife and two children at home that I love to spend time with. Online school seemed like the best route and he highly recommended Colorado Christian

Senior Enlisted Advisor to the CJCS, Sergeant Major Troxell came and spoke directly with the four enlisted students. During his discussion he gave us a insight of his future initiative to engage each branch of service to start sending qualified E-7/E-8s to attend JPME-I or similar courses, as well as sending selective E-8/E-9s to JPME-II or similar course in the near future. More importantly he stressed that each branch of service should have plans to place graduating JCWS students in joint commands, or make plans on placing them in a command in the near future. Try to mirror the approach the officers are taking; this way the training isn't lost, nor joust a check in the box's. I found that the Army was the best fit for me because becoming an active duty officer is the best path for a successful career within the Army. Therefore, at the age of 17, I made the decision to join the U.S. Army Reserves as a motor transport operator with the 223rd transportation company by way of the split option program. The split option allowed me to complete Basic Combat Training over the summer before my senior year of high school where I excelled in training and gained vast knowledge. After graduation, I will continue my training by attending Advanced Individual Training at Ft. Leonard Wood this summer.…

Back in the days of yore, when I still walked the soft warm grass of my homeland, back when the great ice storm was still fresh in the minds of men, I lived in a trailer in the country, between Cridersville and Wapakoneta. I had a lot of free time and not many friends to talk to, save for Lucas who lived all the way in Buckland. I spent the majority of my free time at my neighbor’s house. My neighbors were the most ignorant gun toting Americans I’ve ever known.…

The humiliating path of failure ultimately led me to the road of success. Admitting to friends and family that I failed was dreadful, if only for the fact that I couldn’t avoid the same question: “Why do the members of your staff have silver cords, but you don’t?” In NJROTC, junior year was the year to prove oneself amidst four hundred other cadets fighting for the same goal- the honor and privilege to become the Commanding Officer for the 2015-2016 school year. This is the highest achievement and rank that a cadet in the program can earn, and I ached for that position.…
