I completed Lab 10A to determine my current flexibility and my flexibility needs. I scored low to marginal zone on most of the flexibility tests. These tests indicate that my flexibility needs some significant improvements. One way I could improve my flexibility is by doing stretching exercises daily or at least a few days a week. My experience for becoming a police officer, I had to go through many of series of testes. The first test was a written test which I had to pass with 75% score, before continued on with the physical testing. For instance, I had to run a two mile run, less than five minutes, pull a dummy that weight one hundred and fifty pounds about twenty-five feet, shoot a revolver twelve times with my right hand and with my left hand, hang from a bar for sixty seconds, twenty push up and twenty sit ups. After passing those series of tests, than it was the academy, from nine to five Monday through Friday for three months, which consisted of physical and mentally tests. Community Era American law enforcement came under heavy scrutiny in the 1960s and 1970s. As a result of the police response to civil rights demonstrations, racial strife, Vietnam War protests and political dissent, the Lyndon Johnson administration organized the President’s Crime Commission to examine policing methods and practices (Peak, 2009). This group was tasked with finding solutions to crime, including the root causes, examining the methods of the justice system and solving the combative relationship between police and civilians. The recommendations of the committee included many aspects of law enforcement seen today; the hiring of more minority officers to improve police-community interactions, rigorous screening of applicants, providing intensive preservice academies and the recruitment of college educated candidates (Peak, 2009).
