Mandatory Dress Code Policies In Schools

School dress codes. One thing everyone abhors at school; however, it is one of the most enforced polocies of everyday life at schools across the world. Some restrictions are unbelievable, schools expect students to hold their unique personalities from their fashion choices. Parents spend hundreds of dollars changing their child's clothing to fit into the school standards of modesty and sameness. I believe it is agreed by all parties that rethinking the dress code policies is in everyone's best interest. I propose that our district should embrace the grand qualities of nudism. If we promote our human forms; we can save parents and teachers alike thousands of dollars and hours of enforcing dress codes policies. Our school could be the first agitators

I have decided to write this journal article on an article that I found online that speaks directly to experiences that I had throughout middle school and high school. The article is titled, “The Sexism of School Dress Codes”. A young girl named Maggie Sunseri noticed that the dress codes in her school were geared more directly to girls than it was to boys. At first, Maggie rightfully saw this concept to be unfair. The rationale that the administrators gave behind this idea, however, was even more upsetting to Maggie.…

Administration such as Senator Stephenson must immediately send innocent children to the office for this ridiculous blue-coated “Dress-code Violation” attire and pressing suspension to those who wish not to humiliate and embarrass themselves throughout the school day. I say it is downright deliberate intent to embarrass every student in every way possible by their operation of throwing the “Blue Suit” upon us. But certainly, from here on out, Westlake High School Dress-code shall no longer be enforced. We, students of Westlake High School now consider ourselves free to wear as we wish. He has refused to pass other laws on how teachers shouldn’t loosely teach us students without the intent of us learning something, yet he’d rather enforce something less important in a school atmosphere; an interrupted right to wear what we solemnly desire to express ourselves.…

Many people argue about if the school should have the right to regulate the school dress code whether it be students or parents, but there is only one side to choose. To begin with one reason why they can regulate the dress code is because students can go to school with a distracting hair do. Another reason why they can regulate the dress code is because if they wear inappropriate clothing. The inappropriate clothing and the distracting hair do will affect the other students in many ways that is why the school has the right to regulate the dress code. So yes the school does have the right to regulate the dress code of the students.…

According to www.mtnviewhs.com/dresscode.html, “No sleeveless shirts may be worn or any type of clothing that exposes the armpits”, it also states that “bare midriff clothing, halter tops, strapless tops, backless tops, racer back tops, spaghetti straps, tank tops, sleeveless shirts” are not allowed. Girls should not bear responsibility for boys’ reaction to their bodies, instead boys should be taught to control themselves instead of blaming girls for their ‘distractions’. It shouldn’t be normalized in school that the female body is a hindrance. It also states on http://www.mtnviewhs.com/dresscode.html “Athletic stretch pants of any length should not be worn. Pants should be worn at all times and not be so large that the crotch sags.…

We, the student body of West Florence High, declare independence from the FSD1 mandated dress code. The dress code is sexist to women and forces them to hide themselves in order to give the male student body less “distractions” in their learning environment. Protestations against this biased code have existed for decades, and no action has been taken. The dress code creates a stigmatism around women's bodies causing them to be insecure, and does not teach men to respect womankind. To prove this, these facts are true.…

Dress Code Does dressing the way you want in school really affect the way you think? Well it seems to be that way in this era. Overall, I have concluded that there should be dress code guidelines for certain jobs, but they should ban them from schools. Kids should be worrying about their education and not their style. There is nothing wrong with dressing how you want to dress; so if a dress code is a problem, then simply try go somewhere else if you're able. Not everyone is going to agree with your style, but if it makes you happy, then don't worry about what people think. It's your lifestyle, and you deserve to be able to live your life the way you want!…

At least 58% of schools in the United States enforce a strict dress code. School dress codes and uniforms in private and public schools can be both helpful and harmful to students in relation to their learning and social skills. Implementing school dress codes has shown to increase concentration in the classroom due to the lack of extreme clothing or hair styles, less peer pressure since everyone has to wear the same clothes, and an increase in school safety. According to Don Woodard, a high school principal in Johnston county, The students’ “demeanor is better and there are fewer distractions because of teasing, or students being uncomfortable because of the apparel that others are wearing.” But they also say it's unconstitutional because schools are taking away students freedom of expression.…
