With CPR and First Aid training you could learn how to bring someone back to life, help them stop choking, or more simple procedures such as making a tourniquet to stop bleeding. If CPR is performed close to a cardiac arrest, choking, or whatever it may be can triple a person’s chance of survival. “Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States” (Monette, Michael. 2012). If teachers take a stand to advise students to be bold and encourage them to take action, than these statistics could easily change. Schools should enforce CPR and First Aid training as a graduation requirement because emergency situation can, and do, happen at any given time. With training, anyone could handle any situation. Some examples of the training exercises in CPR and First Aid include: first aid basics, medical, injury, and environmental emergencies, adult CPR, child CPR, and AED usage skills.
