1. Managing Yourself: Turn the Job You Have into the Job You Want
Before reading this article, I was not aware of job crafting. Learning about job crafting has been rather valuable. Everyone at some point in their employment feels stagnant about his or her job. This causes both a decrease in motivation and in job meaningfulness. Often times, employees do not know what to do to make their situation better, and instead resort to become bitter with their jobs. It is valuable to know that job crafting empowers employees to turn their jobs around, making the job more meaningful and engaging. Job crafting can become a very powerful tool for subordinates and managers alike. If in the future, I am faced with a situation where I become dissatisfied with my job, I will employ the advice given in this article.

Frequently, it is easy to forget that behind brilliant ideas are the employees known as invisibles. It is very common for employees to want recognition for successful projects. Yet, there are others, such as the invisibles, who are ambivalent towards recognition. Their motivational drive is excellence rather than fame. Logically, organizations want to retain these high performing employees who are assets. Based on the article, in order to retain them, there has to be a combination of intrinsic and extrinsic rewards. In my previous job, one of my coworkers was an invisible, however, the president did not understand how to motivate her and thought money was the only way.
