Describe to us your experience of managing multiple operational priorities and allocation of resource in challenging circumstances
Working in the Airport Control Centre can naturally be a challenging environment and you can be put to the test during any given situation, but partially usually when there is a disruption to the customer journey or operation. This is when I’m required to step up and manage any given situation within the ACC using all of my skills and knowledge that I have developed.
I have been involved in some challenging situations and have always come away learning something from each and every one of them. One particular occasion is being involved in a full scale power outage of the terminal building at 3AM, with only four members of Bristol Airport staff on site. This required me to ensure, as an operation we were maximising the limited resources we had during this time of the morning, which included business partners. I have learnt a lot from every single one of them to be able to adapt my own leadership skills. I’ve learnt how important it is to trust the team that I work with and that delegation can be a healthy thing for both me and the team. To be able to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the team I work with is essential their development and this is something I have proven more recently without an ‘allocated’ ADM.
I really enjoy being able to lead a team and also the responsibility to be able to influence my positive attitude on them. I believe I have proved that I have the right skills to lead and develop a team and also to be able to motivate them to achieve results. I hope that my confident and committed approach to leading them has come across, and that they learn from my leadership
