Research has proved that night shift work is performed when the individual bodies are preparing to sleep, and forcing to sleep at some point in the day while their bodies are at their most alerts. This struggle between rest and work gradually develop into fatigue. Many researches have revealed that mental performance is weakened after sleep lost. When normal sleep pattern is disturbed or limited to less than 4-5 hours per night, mental/body performance will gradually reduce , and even as 2 hours sleep lose may eventually result to reduced performance and reduced level of concentration at work resulting to unsafe working conditions. 2.2 Mechanisms of the Circadian Rhythm
The body temperature variation occurs in the early hours of the morning, and the highest values in the late afternoon or early evening. Temperature of the body then will continue to fall rapidly over the late evening and into the early morning. Body temperature, the focal built-in indicator of body function, during night sleep decreases , and getting a 35.5°C–36°C at around 4 a.m., and during the day it will increase to 37°C–37.3°C at about 5 p.m.
