Managing Cultural Diversity in Different Countries Different countries have different ways to manage their diverse population. Each country has its own level of expectation and ways of influencing people to keep them happy. This very action further influences in the leadership process. Each one of us has a different vision while leading this is all because of the different culture and vision we have been brought up in. For instance, in high context countries employees seek for indirect messages and group appraisal is kept in the first place rather than individual. Whereas, in low context countries employees seek direct communication and feedback to improve their performance. It completely depends upon the person how well can they cope with the new environment. Besides, leaders also play an essential role to manage the diverse population and keep them happy. In a university the Designated Student Officer (DSO) or student advisor may have to play the role of a leader whereas in a workplace the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) or the branch manager is supposed the play the leader’s role. Nevertheless, thousands of people migrate to Malaysia in search of better life and job. It is one of the counties in the world which has rich culture and immigrants from all over. To meet the competitive advantage Malaysia has made its communication system very strong. Maintaining open communication, accepting and understanding problems, and discussing the solution is one of the way it is managing the cultural diversity. Besides, respecting others culture, beliefs and rituals are another way the country is adapting to keep its employees happy. (Abdullah, 2010, pp. 20-22).
