On November 12, 2016 I had the opportunity to interview Kevin Nulph, manager of business operations at Elite Orthotics Incorporated. Elite Orthotics is located at 705 West Beaver Street Zelienople PA 16063, and Kevin’s contact number is (724) 452-5529. Kevin has been manager of business operations for 10 years, starting in 2006, and he was gracious enough to meet with me at their location for approximately 30 minutes on Saturday at 10:30am.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITY:
As manager of business operations, Kevin says he has many different roles and responsibilities. To list them, he is in charge of supervising production, employees, the human resource division of the company, accounts payable, and purchasing. In addition to …show more content…
A large problem facing Kevin and Elite Orthotics Inc. is that they feel the ACA reforms try to streamline policy too much, and that by doing so it neglects their sector of the healthcare system. Another goal is to help fabricators stay informed within their field pushing production to remain current with scientific findings. OSHA is a government agency that assures safety in the workplace. Kevin points out that this is not specifically healthcare related but because the facility has a lot of machinery OSHA requirements are a significant area of concern for the company. Along with setting standards in the workplace, OSHA also provides a lot of training to better help companies and managers alike maintain a safe work environment for all. Lastly, the FDA regulates Elite Orthotics. The FDA has the mission of protecting the public’s health, and they do so by regulating and standardizing the manufacturing and selling of medical devices like the ones found at Elite Orthotics. The FDA too has the mission of helping make products more effective, safer, and more cost effective. All of these goals are emulated within their regulations for companies. Kevin had less to say about these governing bodies. He mentioned that most of the time they just mean more paperwork for him to fill out, but that otherwise they are just running in the
