Introduction

Background
Party Pro Rents is a locally owned family business here in Tulsa, Oklahoma that was established in 2004. It coins the phrase “one stop shop” by providing premier tents, full-service event rentals, and event productions ensuring the highest level of professionalism and quality products that make events successful. The company was founded by my dad, Scott Layson (now deceased) and my mom, Stephanie Layson. It is her whom I will be interviewing for this paper as she is now primarily responsible for managing the company. For a brief overview in performance:

The company started to receive a very negative feedback after this policy was put in place, but in the end it worked out when the sales team made sure to remind the clients of the policy when picking

Bennis and Nanus (1985, p221) state that ‘managers are people who do things right and leaders are people that do the right thing.’ Yukl (2002, p7) goes on to suggest that leadership is the process of influencing others to understand and agree about what needs to be done and how it can be done effectively, and the process of facilitating individual and collective efforts to accomplish the shared objectives. However, Stodgill (1974:7) powerfully stated that ‘there are as many definitions of leadership as there are persons who have tried to define it.’ Although there are varying definitions to leadership…

They have four key focuses.…

Manager Interview Final Exam Being a manager is not easy, it takes a lot of responsibility, planning, effort, commitment, leadership skills, and communication skills. Interviewing a manager that has been working as a manager for more than at least three years helped me have an idea of what it feels like to be a manager. While interviewing Holly Riser, a full time manager at a retail store named Rue 21, I learned that being a manager is not just about leading your co-workers; there is a lot more to it. It is important for managers to be good communicators, but it is also important for them to be organized and prepared for any outcomes that could happen in the future.…

The interview assignment helped me get to know all of the people in this class. In my other classes, I often cannot name more than the few people who sit beside me, if I can name that many. That is very different from my high school classes where I know every person in the room. This assignment made this class more comfortable for me, as I was able to make a small connection with every classmate. This assignment forced me to communicate with every single person in the class rather than the people who sat around me on the first day.…

Business is Less about Management and more about Leadership Leadership is characterized as the capacity to impact a gathering of individuals towards the accomplishment of objectives. Then again, administration relates essentially to keeping up request and consistency. A great leader is a greater follower. Leaders communicate company goals and let their words fruition into something great. Franklin D. Roosevelt once said, “A good leader can’t get too far ahead of his/her followers.” Followers play an active, vital role in the success of any group, organization, or society (Hackman, 2013, p. 22). A leader must first lead and communicate to his group and follow closely afterwards.…
