Background
Party Pro Rents is a locally owned family business here in Tulsa, Oklahoma that was established in 2004. It coins the phrase “one stop shop” by providing premier tents, full-service event rentals, and event productions ensuring the highest level of professionalism and quality products that make events successful. The company was founded by my dad, Scott Layson (now deceased) and my mom, Stephanie Layson. Even before I ever encountered that statement, I had a basic understanding that in order to lead, you had to know how each of your followers were unique and from there be able to utilize those qualities to the fullest extent. An effective manager does not just know how to play checkers with simple black and red pieces and a set number of moves. An effective manager meticulously plays a theoretical game of chess, constantly anticipating the next moves to make and how those moves will affect all pieces and players involved. Product began to disappear, the client’s saying they never received it in the first place, but yet they conveniently forgot to call and let the sales staff know about it. In light of this, Scott and Stephanie decided to start charging the customer’s credit card immediately after product was returned and items were missing. They found that customer’s would “conveniently” find the missing product to receive a refund in full. The company started to receive a very negative feedback after this policy was put in place, but in the end it worked out when the sales team made sure to remind the clients of the policy when picking
