Quality of interpersonal relationships contributes to the production of worker productivity. To be an effective manager one must avoiding favoritism, unpopular decisions and never misuse their authority. In order for a manager to fulfill their responsibilities they must maintain good interpersonal relations with workers. If one is not hired as a manager, if they move up the ranks, they must keep a healthy distance from the other workers. One situation that sticks out the most to me is when I was already working as the head cashier. Because the Dollar Tree is located in a small town it was very easy for my managers to leave and not return for a long while during their shift, so if anything major happened they could return quickly. If I was working while they were gone their responsibilities would fall on my shoulders. During the night shift is when everything in the store was stocked. While the managers were out I would have to pick and choose which items went on what shelf. I would try to pick places I thought the items would sale the best. One evening I had a stocker walk out of work because there was a conflict between her and the other stocker. The other stocker who didn’t walk out was my personal friend. I tried not to play favorites and I encouraged the stocker who left to wait until the manager returned to see if the situation can be resolved without anyone having to leave the company for good. She declined. When my manager returned I told her both sides of the girl’s story without giving any taking
