Management Experience: My Clinical Experience With Medication

Management Experience Today I was the manager for my team and prepared to complete a group medication administration. In doing so, I had to put in a lot of effort and research ahead of time. I started preparing for my med pass on Tuesday evening by preparing my schedule for the next day, researching medications and familiarizing myself with the patient’s diagnosis. I had to administer meds for two patients. On Tuesday, I did not pass 9 a.m. medications for either patient, and both patients were comfortable and did not require any PRN medication. I gathered information, evaluated priorities and waited to review my findings with my instructor. After meeting with my instructor I completed my assessments and delegated my team member to assist with cares. Using Maslow’s, I decided to administer medications to patient one first, he was to receive insulin with his meal and his tray had already arrived. In addition, this was my new patient, the patient received pain medication at 4:58 a.m. and was one day post procedure. Patient two had no complaints throughout the night, vital signs were stable and WNL, and her morning medication had already been given. My rational for planning my day this way was based on my assessments, report, and the medications each patient was to receive. Prior to me administering medications to patient one, patient two was requesting to get cleaned up. I delegated this to my team member. After completing my assessments, providing personal cares and medication pass for patient one I moved on to patient two.
